I think everyone needs to prepare a Kill List, but please before you quote me wrongly, a kill list necessarily does not mean list of people to be killed, it could be bad habits or distractions. So have you prepared one?

Blank Slate - My first Poem!
Blank Slate
By Ifeanyi Anthony Maduka
I remained bare, ripe to be exploited
But defaced I linger after given all
On the bed of nails I waited
To be appreciated and accomplished
But defaced I linger after given all
On the bed of nails I waited
To be appreciated and accomplished
Unaided I hunted for acquaintance of cosmos to end my pains
Knowledge dwelled in the spaces that craved for adoration
Vice they became
The more I tried to renounce, the deeper the hole became
The more I tried to renounce, the deeper the hole became
Never thought of becoming an icon
I became a deity respected by every creed
Then I grew into a traitorous queen
Sleeping with the rival emperor
I became a deity respected by every creed
Then I grew into a traitorous queen
Sleeping with the rival emperor
Mother Earth has one deaf ear
I wanted to be heard before yesterday
Because today will be gone
Six feet below gives a distend sanctuary
I wanted to be heard before yesterday
Because today will be gone
Six feet below gives a distend sanctuary

The Devil's Alternative - My Best Title and Author!
Though I read my first non academic literature book (Ifeanyi and Obi by Charitas Onwu-Otuyelu) in my primary school way back in the late 80's at Umudim Central School,
Nnewi, the real drive started when got into JSS1 at Nnewi High School. At High School as called it then, Ekene Okoli and Ikeagwuonwu Chinedu and I used to borrow a book each daily from Monday to Thursday and then on Fridays we borrowed 3 each for the weekend to be returned on Monday. It was a healthy ritual and competition that we continued till our JSS3 before we split. Chinedu and I went to a another school that was purely science based. Maybe due to academic work and other side attractions found in an all boys school, we reduced our habit to weekends and holidays.
It was at the beginning of our SSS1 second term, Chinedu came back from holidays and introduced me to some bigger books because as at that time I was just bent on finishing all the James Hardley Chase titles available in Nnewi Market, some local book clubs and from friends too.
He talked me into some bigger titles (300-500pp), I thought they were to big to be finished until I started 'If Tomorrow Comes' by Sydney Sheldon then Jeffery Archers' 'Cain and Abel', 'Shall We tell the President' and Frederick Forsyth's The Negotiator. I became hooked.
It took me not until after secondary school when I laid my hands on 'THE DEVIL'S ALTERNATIVE' by Frederick Forsyth. My best author and my best title of all times. It was actually published the year I was born during the peak of Cold War.
Guys, please find a copy and enjoy this master piece.

From The Beginning of the First Page!
Reading and Writing are very active processes. You do not need to be active in the beginning but with time you will definitely become one.
People who read or write do so in very uncommon places like toilets, while commuting in buses, taxis and buses.
Reading not only increases your knowledge and skills, it make you a more confident person that even during job interviews, you will excel.
It takes an effort to do both. So indulge and surround yourself with people who read. It is a common saying that 'if you want to hide something from a fool, hide it in a book'. Don't be the fool. There are so much information, data, statistics that are buried in books.
So fellow Africans, find a book today or buy someone a book today as a Christmas gift, you just might be starting the next chapter in their lives.
In conclusion, this blog will try to help new readers and writers as well find a direction in the new world of knowledge.
